Account book of Eben Lothrop, blacksmith, 1800-1814.

The collection consists of the ledger/account book of blacksmith Eben Lothrop of Barnstable, MA, with entries which date from approx. 1800-1814. Entries are for payment for "showing " horses, repairing tools, mending chains, and making hinges. Credits to accounts, in addition to cash payments, include cords of wood, molasses, grain, bacon, harness work, onions and other produce. Individual customers are listed by name with a list of transactions. There is an index to names in the front of the volume. The ledger retains its original vellum binding.
